18 job seekers recruited in contracts helped to clean the beaches
In order to respond effectively to the massive stranding of brown algae on our beaches, the Saint Martin Community and the French government have decided to create a green brigade which will come into action at the end of September. Thursday 03 September 2015, the signature of the single contract of insertion between the Employment Pole, the association Symphorien Center of insertion of Quartier d'Orléans and 18 job seekers recruited in assisted contracts, was registered in community, under the The sympathetic look of President Aline Hanson, the prefect Anne Laubiès and the regional director of the employment center, Jacques Gustave.

Under the authority of the Community, the 18 green brigadiers will be deployed on beaches impacted by sargassic algae at the end of September, to restore these natural spaces to their initial appearance. A considerable but nevertheless necessary and urgent task, the coast being the main tourist asset of our territory.
Last Thursday, the 18 future green brigadiers were invited to the Hotel de la Collectivité to sign their commitment to the employment center and local institutions. From now on, they will be able to take a qualifying course in September, and integrate the cleaning teams. These young, long-term unemployed, mostly from the priority neighborhoods of Quartier d'Orléans and Sandy Ground, were enthusiastic and eager to get into action.
The Green Brigades are funded equally by the Community (100 000 €) and the State (100 000 €) with additional assistance from the ADEME (92 000 €). The government has also released 2 M € in favor of the Caribbean communities affected by the phenomenon within the framework of the inter-ministerial anti-Sargasso plan.

The Regional Health Agency, represented by the director of the Northern Islands, Pascal Godefroy, carries out weekly sampling to measure the level of hydrogen sulphide present in the algae that impact our environment, our economy, but also our health when we Lives nearby. The LRA is committed to training crossing guards in the use of control sensors so that they can optimize their field operations.

The Prefect Anne Laubiès welcomed the Center Symphorien d'insertion, and its President, Mrs. Rousseau, our territory now has an integration association in each of the two priority neighborhoods.
For President Aline Hanson, "the setting up of a green brigade is a mission of public utility that will optimize the welcome of our tourists. This is a priority for the Community as it allows the recruitment of 18 young people waiting for employment ".

This professional springboard (renewable one-year contract), with a qualifying training, should offer these young people the possibility of bouncing back to other missions, such as the ambassador of the selective sorting, and why not In the long term to create their own business.
