Friendly Island Cleaning Campaign
President Daniel Gibbs and his majority members would like to extend their warmest thanks to all the people who gave their time and invested in Clean Island Operation "Friendly Island - Clean Island", organized by the Community of Saint Martin , The first two weekends of July.
This collective clean-up promised by Team Gibbs 2017 had a double objective. On the one hand, clean the island together and rid the public domain and private property of the waste and bulky could become projectiles in the event of a hurricane, and secondly to give back to our tourist island a clean and welcoming image.
The community services surveyed all the neighborhoods of the island during the four mornings of cleaning, and were able to collect 74 tons of miscellaneous waste, 31 tons the first weekend, and 43 tons the second. 600 flyers were hand delivered to residents, for the free removal of carcasses from vehicles.
The President thanked all those involved in this "clean island" scheme, the citizens who spontaneously joined the field teams, companies and associations that responded positively to the community appeal.
A lot of thanks to the companies that have intervened for free: Ludovic Gréaux, Paul Cazalan, Pilah Nepal, Uranie Marius, DLETS, Survival, JPS, Philips Rosemond, Flanders Xavier, Verde SXM Lottery Farm.
A big thank you to the voluntary associations: Dream of Trail, SXM Trail, EMS, Symphorian insertion center, AIDSM, ACED, SXM Horizon, Hope and Music Foundation, Sandy Ground on the Move, AZ, Terres Basses Association, Soualiga Youth .
Thanks to the youth of the Community Holiday Jobs, the members of the Junior Territorial Council, the Neighborhood Councils, the CTOS, the Youth UD, the community agents and its satellites who took part in the cleaning, Event service, youth service agents, road and building management agents.
Special thanks to the technicians of the Environment and Life Management Directorate, led by Anne-Marie Bouillé, who contributed greatly, and to all those who participated in this operation.
