Environment and living environment
Marigot, Monday 19 January 2015 President Aline Hanson received Guy Neuhaus, the new CEO of CITEC Environnement, to whom the Saint Martin community has entrusted since November 2011 the rental and maintenance market for 2171 Waste bins distributed throughout the territory of the Community.
This meeting was held at the Hôtel de la Collectivité in the presence of Anne-Marie Bouillé, Director of Environment and Living, and CITEC Guadeloupe agency manager Martine Durel-Zorobabel. was the occasion for Guy Neuhaus to make a presentation of the CITEC company, which is a subsidiary of the ESE World BV group, leader in the European market of integral pre-collection solutions. At present, CITEC Environnement generates 80 million turnover throughout the French territory, it has two production plants, eight agencies including one based in Guadeloupe. Since its establishment in Saint-Martin in 2011, CITEC has opened a depot in Cul de Sac and created a job as a maintenance agent recruited on site and responsible for maintaining the bins-trash (made of recycled plastics). This market comes to an end and will be reassigned in November 2015 by tender for a period of four years.
As part of the Recycling Recovery Plan, initiated with Eco-Emballages, a contract will also be awarded by the 2015 Community for the increase and renewal of the columns and selective sorting bins (glass, plastic, cartons, etc.).
While there have been some notable improvements in tri-selective in recent years, awareness-raising among the general public remains considerable. For example, the Community of Saint-Martin has planned a communication campaign targeting the population on tri-selective and recycling, and more broadly the treatment of waste. This campaign will be in partnership with CITEC and VERDE SXM.
This constructive meeting with the management of CITEC enabled President Aline Hanson to reiterate her wish to see the tri-selective generalize on the territory and the citizens more concerned with respect for their living environment.
