The installation of neighborhood councils will take place in September
President Daniel Gibbs informs the population of the September programming of the installation of the new neighborhood councils. Initially scheduled for July, the facility was postponed to allow the Public Policy Evaluation Directorate to receive new applications and to complete the number of candidates that are lacking in certain districts. Candidates have until Thursday 19 August 2017 to submit their candidacy.

-Assessment of address (to be withdrawn from urban planning) / Proof of residence
- Attestation of the number of the elector (issued by the service of the Elections)
Institutions of the community, established by the organic law of 21 February 2007 in its title 2 - Chapter IV - article Art. LO 6324-1 - the neighborhood councils have an advisory role to the territorial council.
It is the deliberative assembly that determines the name, composition and operating procedures of the neighborhood councils. The district councils are set up by the territorial executive for a duration of 5 years.
The advisory role of the neighborhood councils must be exercised before the territorial council when it deliberates on the revision or modification of the local planning plan within the perimeter of the district, on the development projects in the perimeter of the district, and The development of local amenities, whether educational, social, cultural or sporting.
The community of Saint-Martin has demarcated 6 Neighborhood Councils:
Neighborhood 1: Rising sun (orange): Griselle - Oyster-Pond - Beautiful plain - Flagstaff - Orléans - Eastern bay.
Area 2: Land of Culture (Purple): Chevrise - Cul de Sac - Mont Vernon - Grand-Case - The Savannah - Morne O'Reilly.
Area 3: Land of Hope (green): Lot La Savanna - Pic Paradis - Saint-Louis - Rambaud - Colombier - Cripple Gate -Friar's Bay.
Neighborhood 4: Land of exchange and heritage (blue): Morne-Valois - Approval - Hameau du Pont - Galisbay - La Colombe - Concordia - Spring - Mont des Accords.
Neighborhood 5: La Capitale (red): Downtown Marigot - Saint James - Rue de Hollande - Mont Fortune - Bellevue.
Neighborhood 6: Terre des Peuples (yellow): Sandy ground - Terres-Basses.

Setting up District Councils postponed until September
President Daniel Gibbs would like to inform the General Public that the setting of our new district councils has been postponed. Originally scheduled in the month of July, the procedure will be taken in September. The notice of a deficiency of applicants in some districts gives interested persons until Thursday, August 19th, 2017 to register.
