Urban buses: Reminder of transport conditions in downtown Marigot

By-laws 100-2009 and 105-2010 and 1054-2016 regulate the circulation of public transport vehicles to cross the city center of Marigot. They indicate the streets and traffic directions prohibited to passenger vehicles (not to be confused with tourist transports that have access to the whole territory, like taxis). The plan (attached) of Marigot's downtown clearly indicates the various possible routes.
The Community of Saint-Martin recalls here the instructions to be observed by the users and transporters in the matter of parking of the buses at the stops provided for this purpose.
A solemn reminder is given to the carriers and also to the users for the respect of the axis of the boulevard de France, which is the only authorized circuit to travel in direction of Sandy-Ground and Terres-Basses. People waiting for buses are called to wait in the bus shelters of the Boulevard de France, on the Front-de-Mer, and not at the corners of the streets of Liberty and President Kennedy, at the foot of the building Les Amandiers or in front Storefronts. The same applies at the corner of the Agrément roundabout and the Morne Valois road where stops and parking are prohibited. In the direction of Grand-Case, bus drivers and waiting passengers are invited to make use of the clearance (bus stop) before any roundabout.
For obvious rules of safety, it is imperative to use the bus stops and not to stop in the street and at every corner for the removal or loading of passengers. The adoption of civic and professional behavior by operators would contribute to a marked improvement in the flow of traffic in downtown Marigot and its surroundings and would avoid the traffic jams and constant discomfort caused to other motorists and road users .

Applicable regulations

In accordance with 518 of the Highway Code, bus drivers who operate public transit vehicles are required to stop at the stopping points for the removal and loading of passengers. This obligation is accompanied by a ban on stopping outside unauthorized stopping points. Carriers caught in violation will be prosecuted and arrested by the police.

The stopping points

Outside the space reserved for the Antoine GUMBS bus station, bus stops, with or without bus shelters, must be borrowed to remove and recover the passengers. Stop points are not parking areas. In the absence of passengers to drop off or retrieve, buses are not allowed to park in stops to wait for customers. This bad practice is very common at the bus stop of the Marina Royale, leaving Marigot.

The community of Saint-Martin invites bus drivers and their users to respect these safety instructions and thanks them for their understanding.

2016-06-19 Commemoration
Speech Father's Day 2016 ?? President Aline Hanson

Ladies and gentlemen of the Collective,
Ladies and gentlemen, representatives of the neighborhoods,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Hello everyone,

Welcome to this Father's Day ceremony, organized by the community of Saint-Martin, in partnership with the neighborhood councils.

Thank you all for being with us.

Celebrating family fathers always has a special connotation for us Saint-Martinois, because in our society more than elsewhere, the father is an essential link in education.

In today's St. Martin this balance is sometimes lacking, and we have too many single-parent families and mothers forced to raise their children alone.

That is why I would like to send a message to the fathers that it is never too late to take charge of your children's education and help them progress in life.
Recently, the community created the "School of Parents" within the framework of the Local Security and Prevention of Crime Council (CLSPD).

It is with this device to accompany the parents who have difficulties with their parental authority. We saw it again this week (armed robbery of Nettle Bay), certain delinquent acts committed by young people without benchmarks, cause trouble and gives a very negative image of St. Martin.

It is all together, at our respective levels, that we must act to stem the violence.

Fortunately we have in Saint-Martin very good fathers, who are involved within the family.

6 fathers who give a good education to their children.

I would like you to welcome:

- Mr. Dennys Leroy HYMAN, from District No. 1
- Mr. Léonard LARMONY from District No. 2
- Mr. Georges Apollinaire GOMBS from District No. 3
- Mr Jean Albert MINVILLE from District No. 4
- Mr. Laurent Joseph MINVILLE from District No. 5
- Mr Clément VAN HEYNINGEN from district No 6.

Today we are going to celebrate your commitment and your involvement in the education of your children.

You have a role model for them. Your children could count on their own life. This is precisely what our community needs to go forward.

I repeat often, a structured family setting, with a loving and caring mom and dad is the key to a successful education. I would add that the father's authority is fundamental because it is a landmark for the child.

Today it is you gentlemen who send a strong sign to all the other dads of St. Martin. I salute your commitment, happy father's day to all the fathers of saint-martin.
Thank you.

Celebrating Father's Day :

In partnership with the neighborhood councils, six exemplary fathers were honored for their journey and the education given to their children by the Community of Saint Martin, in the presence of President Aline Hanson, Vice-President Rosette Gumbs-Lake , Of the elected in charge of Culture Rollande Questel, and of the elected Jean-Philippe Richardson.

In her speech, the President spoke of the importance of the father in the family balance and recalled that it was never too late to get involved in the education of his children. She praised the worthwhile journey of these six fathers of family and wished a very good father's day to all the dads of St. Martin. The members of the Territorial Youth Council were present.
