Conference: Know your history, know your country!

The third conference devoted to the discovery of the history of Saint-Martin, within the framework of the cycle Know your history, know your country, will take place on Wednesday 7 December 2016 to 18h, precise (working room, 1er floor of the Media library , Concordia).

On the initiative of the Neighborhood Council n ° 3 and the association Hot'n Spicy, with the support of the Territorial Archives, this cycle of conferences, begun on 23 last March, proposes to make discover the history of Saint Martin , Chronologically and thematically, through the analysis of archives and works. The aim of this initiative is to stimulate historical research, especially for young people, and to encourage exchanges on the history of the French side and the Dutch side.

In the continuity of the theme "Religions at St. Martin", for which Mr. Gerard Lafleur, Guadeloupian historian, had made the trip to 25 last May in Saint-Martin and had offered the public the fruit of his research on Protestants to Saint-Martin in the 17th and 18th centuries, the next meeting will continue its journey in time with the interventions of:

- Ms ARRINDELL Rhoda (former Minister of Education and Culture of Sint Maarten), "The Stories of the Catholic Religion and the Reform Churches of Dutch Sint Maarten"
-Mr DARGAUD Stéphanie (Director of the Territorial and Heritage Archives of Saint-Martin): "The development of Catholicism in Saint-Martin (XVII-XIX centuries)

Lecture-Debate on the Benefits of Reading

The Morphée Caraïbes association and the Médiathèque de Saint-Martin organize a conference-debate, on Friday 09 December 2016 at 19 hours, on the benefits of reading on health.
The association Morphée Caraïbes focuses its action on the promotion of global health and prevention. During this conference-debate, she proposes to exchange on the theme: The place of the book in the psychological development of young children and adolescents or the fundamental virtues and benefits of reading on our health.
Among the speakers, Dr. Jean-Yves LEBORGNE will talk about the place of the book in personal development and the possible improvement of the state of health by "bibliotherapy".
Marilyn LEVREAU, librarian, will explain how reading contributes to the construction of the individual and why the actors of the book can be true librarians.
The Médiathèque de Saint-Martin and the association Morphée Caraïbes are waiting for you to share this conference-debate on the virtues of reading.

• 1 male puppy of cross type Berger, black and fire, approx. 40 cm and approx. 7 months.

Spring District

• 1 Creole puppy crossed, fawn, approx. 40 cm and approx. 8 month

Grand Case

• 1 bitch of type Pitt bull, chocolate, border and white breastplate, hanging nipples, env.45 cm and env.3 years and a half.

Marigot: work ends and street reopens, the 03 December 2016

The Saint-Martin Water and Sanitation Establishment (EEASM) informs the public that, as part of the work on the water network in downtown Marigot, the planing of the old layers of tar The Liberty and Kennedy Street, will begin Thursday 1th December 2016 and finish the next morning.
The installation of the new asphalt will be carried out in the stride, rue de la Liberté on the 02 December 2016, rue Kennedy and street of the Palace of Justice, on Saturday 03 December 2016. The streets will be reopened on December 03. Kennedy Street will be closed to traffic on Friday December 02 for planing and Saturday 03 December for the laying of the asphalt.
The EEASM apologizes in advance to the residents of the city center for the noise caused by this planing, and thanks them for their understanding.

Opening hours of the waste disposal center in December 2016

The Galisbay-Bienvenue waste collection office informs the population of the temporary modification of the opening hours of the site. Between the 05 and the 30 December 2016, the waste collection will be open from Monday to Friday from 10h to 16h and Saturday from 10h to 14h.

During the holidays, the waste collection center will be closed:

-The Saturday 24 December 2016
-Monday 26 December 2016
-Saturday 31 December 2016.

The resumption of the usual schedules will be effective on Monday 02 January 2017.

Partial and temporary closure of the Rue de la République

The Saint-Martin Water and Sanitation Establishment (EEASM) informs the population that Rue de la République will be partially closed to vehicular traffic on Tuesday 22 November 2016, from 22 hours, until Wednesday 23 November, 6 hours of the morning. This partial closure will make it possible to connect the drinking water networks with the Rue de la Liberté with a view to its next reopening.
The EEASM asks motorists to respect the organization of traffic that will be temporarily implemented and thanks them for their understanding.

Capture of stray dogs, from 28 November to 13 December 2016

The Community of St. Martin informs the public that the next catch of stray dogs on the public road by the territorial pound will take place from Monday 28 November to Tuesday 13 December 2016

All pet owners are asked to keep them tied up and monitor them even after the catch phase. For further information, please contact the Environment and Living Environment Department at 0590 52 27 30.

Territorial decree 033-2014

The President of the Territorial Council, Aline Hanson, issued a decree (No. 033-2014) regulating the conditions of possession of pets and their movement on public roads.
This decree stipulates that it is forbidden to let the animals wander in the territory of the Collectivity. To avoid accidents, dogs must be kept on a leash, so-called dangerous dogs must be muzzled.
