Grand Case Schoelcher Festival 2025
This morning, the official celebration of Schoelcher's feast day took place in Grand Case. The brass band played along Bertin-Maurice Boulevard in the morning, immediately after the traditional ecumenical mass at the Marie Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Schoelcher Grand Case Festival 2025During his speech, President Louis Mussington recalled his commitment and that of his team to the reconstruction of Grand Case: the renovation of the neighborhood church and the renovation of the two schools.
The president called on young people to commit to the region. An agreement signed with the University of the Antilles offers continuing education to young Saint-Martin residents. In two or three years, the construction of two water and electricity plants will begin, with the reins being handed over to qualified young people through formal recruitment or service delegation.
In the face of juvenile delinquency, the president drew up a report on concrete actions for Grand Case:
- Opening of the territorial police station last June
- Installation of football field lighting
- The imminent arrival of video surveillance
- A room for the Grand Case District Council (located on rue des écoles).
Four prominent figures from civil society were honored by President Mussington. These individuals received an official certificate of recognition marking their involvement in the community, in the worlds of music, art, and agriculture:
- Mrs. Audrey CLAXTON (artist)
- Mr. Emmanuel GIMENEZ-RICHARDSON (farmer)
- Mr. Edwin CHARBONNIER (musician)
- Mr. Albert CONNOR (musician)
Prefect Cyrille le Vély honored five personalities:
- Ms. Valérie SALMON (volunteer at the Paris Olympic Games)
- Mr. Jean-Marc GERVAIS (founder of Jeunesse Soualiga)
- Mr. Glen GRAHAM (pillar of the Orleans Attackers club)
- Ms. Gerline ISAAC (president of the VEISS association)
- Mr. Miguel MINGAU (president of Moto Action du Nord AMAN)
The collectivité would like to thank the groups that participated in the Soualiga Soldiers Drum Band parade, the Explorers, Grain d'Or and the after-school program.
The Grand Case festival is an opportunity to celebrate freedom, Saint-Martin identity and the centuries-old traditions strongly represented in this typical Saint-Martin village.
