Constructive consultation towards a reform of the St. Martin tax system

After three days of seminars, on January 29 and 30 for territorial elected officials and on February 6, 2026 for institutional partners and professionals applying local taxation, the Collectivité of Saint-Martin organized a morning of feedback, at the GCBC, in the presence of territorial elected officials and all the partners who participated in the seminar and contributed to the reflection workshops.

President Louis Mussington and First Vice-President Alain Richardson, who are jointly leading this reform project, reiterated the urgent need to simplify the tax code of Saint-Martin and optimize local taxation in the interest of all.

By organizing this Seminar, the Collectivité of Saint-Martin has chosen a concerted approach with the elected officials and managers of the Collectivité on the one hand, but also with institutional and professional partners: the Public Finance Center (CFP), the CESC, the Neighborhood Councils, the CCISM, the Tourist Office, the MEDEF, the FTPE, the Notaries, the Lawyers, the Accountants and the Tax Optimization Firms.

The next step is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1st, with a working session of the elected officials of the majority, in order to identify the first avenues for change, and more broadly to implement the reform of the Saint-Martin tax system.

The Collectivité of Saint-Martin and its Tax Department wish to thank all participants in the seminar. Their contribution throughout the discussions and workshops was invaluable in defining the contours of tomorrow's taxation.
