Signing of an agreement between the University of the Antilles and the Collectivité of Saint-Martin
The Collectivité de Saint-Martin and the Université des Antilles sign an agreement to prepare young people from Saint-Martin for higher education.
Signing of an agreement between the University of the Antilles and the Collectivité of Saint-MartinThe Collectivité de Saint-Martin, represented by President Louis Mussington, and the Université des Antilles, represented by its President Michel Geoffroy, signed an agreement at the end of June 2025 in favor of continuing education after the baccalaureate in the territory of Saint-Martin.
The aim of President Louis Mussington and his Vice-President Dominique Louisy is to develop higher education in the territory of Saint-Martin through the establishment of continuing education after the Baccalaureate.
To this end, the first milestone is the implementation of training aimed at enabling:
- A return to higher education (particularly at university) with a view to promotion or returning to employment;
- Obtaining a diploma allowing you to take administrative exams requiring a baccalaureate;
- Obtaining a diploma attesting to their general level of culture.
The agreement signed between the two parties defines the administrative, educational and financial conditions for the 2025-2026 academic year for two diploma courses:
-Diploma of access to university studies: literary and legal option (DAEU-A) lasting 300 hours
-Diploma of access to university studies: scientific option (DAEU-B) lasting 300 hours.
These training courses are aimed at anyone meeting the following criteria:
- Have interrupted their initial studies for at least two years
And satisfy one of the following conditions:
- Be at least 20 years old on October 1 of the year of the examination and have two years of paid professional activity or an activity which has given rise to two years of social security contributions (periods of unemployment with registration with Pôle Emploi, education of a child, national service, participation in a professional training program, exercise of a high-level sporting activity, etc.);
- Be 24 years of age or older on October 1 of the year of the exam
This cooperation between the Collectivité de Saint-Martin and the Université des Antilles offers new training opportunities to young Saint-Martin residents through services of the same quality as those in other territories of the Antilles-Guyana. These training courses provide training for access to higher education. The start of classes for both programs has been set for November 3, 2025. A welcome and integration meeting for future students will be organized beforehand.
For President Louis Mussington : " This is a major step forward for Saint-Martin. These two university programs help support young Saint-Martin residents towards higher education. The Collectivité is doing everything possible to develop university offerings in its territory, with new training opportunities intended not only for new high school graduates but also for students with a baccalaureate level.
