Supporting Air Antilles: A responsible and clear-sighted choice for Saint-Martin

The Territorial Council of Monday, October 6, 2025, debated at length the financial support of 3 million euros granted to SEM Air Antilles.

This carefully considered decision reflects the desire of the Collectivité of Saint-Martin to preserve an economic and strategic tool essential for the connectivity of our territory and the entire Caribbean.

The elected members of the majority recall that freedom of expression and the plurality of opinions are fully respected within the group, allowing for frank and constructive exchanges on complex subjects such as that of Air Antilles, because it is crucial to act responsibly for the general interest.

The support provided to Air Antilles is not an end in itself, but a transitional measure.

This contribution, combined with the four-month extension of the operating license, should give the company some breathing space, facilitate negotiations with potential buyers, and, in the worst case scenario, possibly the sale to aviation professionals of a tool saved by the Collectivité.

The objective is clear: to guarantee Saint-Martin and the Caribbean region territorial continuity that is vital for its inhabitants and its economy.
