Site visit to the Isabella residence construction site
The President of the Collectivité of Saint-Martin, Louis Mussington, and the 2nd Vice-President, Bernadette Davis, visited the construction site of the Isabella residence in Friar's Bay on Monday, August 24th. This project, led by SIKOA (Groupe Action Logement), will create 14 new social housing units.
The Isabella residence project is based on the transformation of a 2,996 m² site, initially consisting of a vacant lot and an empty house. It combines the renovation of the existing buildings with a new extension. The future residence will offer a diverse range of units, including seven 2-bedroom apartments, four 3-bedroom apartments, and three 4-bedroom apartments, all with terraces.
With a total cost of approximately €4 million, the project benefits from support from the Collectivité of Saint-Martin, with an investment grant of nearly €577,000 and a loan guarantee of €1.76 million. In return for its support, the Collectivité will have reservation rights on 7 of the 14 housing units.
This operation directly contributes to the ongoing effort to develop the supply of social housing in Saint-Martin, in a context of severe housing shortages. It also allows for the redevelopment of previously vacant land and buildings, while offering housing of varying sizes adapted to the diverse needs of Saint-Martin households.
The visit provided an opportunity to observe the progress of the construction site and to exchange ideas with SIKOA and the various stakeholders involved in the operation.
The Isabella residence is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2027, but the first model apartments will be ready as early as October 2026.
